Side Trips

So, in our travels this summer, we actually did manage to take a side trip. Here or there.

The furthest destination was a huge college exposure softball tournament in Denver, Colorado. (By the way, both girls decided that playing in the mile-high city was tougher because of the thinner air!) On a day off from playing, we decided to head to the zoo.

Emma. LOVED. It.

These are just a few of the highlights from the Denver Zoo. We made the girls pose at the entrance by the life-size metal sculptures:

(Not sure where Alyssa was for that picture. I promise, she was at the zoo with us!) Then, the mandatory photos with the favorite animals. Zebras are cool...
This was actually the polar bear exhibit. (He's on the rock behind us.) But when we turned around for the photo, we discovered that not all the animals are INSIDE the cages:
I wish the peacock would have fanned his tail for us. When we got to the elephants, we couldn't see any. Turns out, they were indoors:
Emma may not remember going to the zoo, but at least I can say we gave her that experience! On our way home from Denver, we took the drive in two days. That made it nice for not being in a huge hurry to get back... so when we were coming up on Twin Falls, we decided it had been too many years since we'd stopped to see Shoshone Falls..... so we went!!
And the moral of this story is......
There's more to life than softball. I think.
