I read once that if you haven't changed your hairstyle in five years, you are outdated and not keeping up with trends. My mother had the same hairstyle for probably about 40 years or so. Can you say, "rut"? As in, ditch, groove, mud. Well, I was SO overdue for a haircut, and I kept telling myself I was growing out my bangs. Yeah, right. For weeks I was wanting a cut and never did it, never did it. So I finally got a good friend to pay me a house call with her scissors. When I told her how short I wanted it, she said, "Are you sure?"
Yes. Definitely.
Here's the "before picture -- but it was worse than this. Picture me with this hair, plus 4 months more growth on it. (The picture is from April, and Emma was 6 months old)
And.......
So this is the new me with the shorter hair!
Yes, I meant it to be this short.
No, I'm not used to it yet, but I'm getting there. I've been experimenting with styling it for the last week, trying different methods to see what I like best.
I think it achieves the goal, which was getting out of that frumpy, middle-aged, Mormon mom look. I can't go too short, or I end up pulling at it to try & make it longer.
Emma, who is obsessed with her mom's hair, is not sure what to make of it, since there's less of it to grab and tug!

Wow! It's cute! That picture reminds me of Kaylene.
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking of getting my hair cut short again. I'm tired of it getting pulled by my rambunctious toddler who likes to climb all over me!
