Daddy-Daughter Moments

About a week ago, Emma begged to go outside with Todd to "help" him. When you're three, it doesn't matter what Daddy is doing, as long as you get to do it with him, and it's an added bonus if he's going outdoors. It happened to be a rather balmy February day.

A little while later, I looked out the window, and saw this:

Apparently helping Daddy was over, and it was trampoline time!  (Wow, our lawn has really gone dead over the winter this year! Please ignore the dirt patches: there are a few spots that need to be re-seeded, and most of them come from softball wear and tear.) Emma loves going outdoors better than she likes being outdoors. Especially in winter, when she gets cold -- something she HATES. So really, twenty minutes outside is all it takes to make her happy!

And then, when she gets tired, it can be all at once!

Although we need the winter weather for a good season in the hearth products business, I also appreciate the warming in the early spring, when I start dreaming of blooming flowers and everything being green again. Winter isn't over yet, but it's sure on the downhill side.
